Our Mission Statement

Our mission is to bring Christ’s message of love to the poor and vulnerable by providing
quality social services to families and individuals without discrimination and in accordance
with Catholic Social Teaching and professional standards.

Catholic Charities of Shreveport is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that serves all persons
regardless of faith, race, age, gender, disability or national origin. We partner with other
non-profits in the Diocese of Shreveport, in particular The Community Center and the NW
Louisiana Food Bank, to aid and enrich the lives of those most in need in our area. We have
a strong mission to be a source of human services, to strengthen families by providing help
and creating hope, to assist in emergencies but also, to teach and enrich lives.

While Catholic Charities of Shreveport is a young operation, we are growing daily
and broadening our programs to better serve our clients. Catholic Charities in the
United States is over one hundred years old and has served the public well with critical
aid, basic needs, legal assistance and learning programs. We are thrilled to be part of such
an organization.

Rooted in the teachings of Jesus Christ and the Catholic Church to serve each other, our
services extend the ministries of parishes throughout the 16 civil parishes of the Diocese
of Shreveport:

• Fulfilling the gospel mandate of
welcoming strangers, supporting the
weak, serving those in need and
celebrating the gifts of every individual
and family;

• Sharing the joy of service by treating
every person with respect, dignity,
patience and compassion;

• Enhancing the quality of life for all
families and empowering individuals and families to become more self-sufficient;

• Providing tools and resources to help individuals and families live as productive
and responsible members of the community.

• Calling the community of faith and the community at large to participate in its work though volunteerism, financial support and advocacy
