When people face emergencies, Catholic Charities of Shreveport wants to offer a helping
hand. We do this in two ways. One way we give assistance is to help with rent or utility
bills after assessing their need on a case by case basis, and secondly we offer financial
education to help people better prepare for life’s unexpected emergencies. All clients
must attend a financial education class to become eligible for financial assistance.
When we are unable to help, we try to find a social service provider in the community
to assist. During these difficult economic times the needs are great and we try to assist
as much as our resources will allow us.
In addition, we offer State Benefit Application Assistance for SNAP (Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program – formerly the Food Stamp Program) to help clients complete the application and begin to receive benefits. We can also assist with applications for:
FITAP – Family Independence Temporary Assistance
CCAP – Child Care Assistance Program
KCSP – Kinship Care Subsidiary Program
CSE- Child Support Enforcement
